EP-29–Dinacharya–Put Common Sense in Daily Common Practice -Put First Th...

எல்லா ஹீரோக்களுக்கும் ஹீரோயின் களுக்கும் வணக்கம்.

Theme for the week,
today being the last day of Habit3, we are going to keep Put First Things First
- Stephen covey Habit-3.

Scene-1

When I was a school
going boy, I was watching a thalaivar movie with my mom. Thalaivar was fighting
(பறந்து பறந்து அடிச்சுகிட்டு இருப்பாரு) in the movie and that was when my mother
asked me “Did I lock the door properly or Did I close our gas pipe”. I used to
get annoyed and told her to keep quiet.

How many of
you(women) are like my mom who are constantly think about family all the time.
If I add all those
women together, that is equivalent to my mom. She always thought about us. She
was a teacher in a government and raised 4 of us in the family. She did not
have any time for herself and particularly did not have time for Health ball
which I mentioned in my EP-19 (Panchathanthiram). Because she dropped her
health ball completely throughout her career while raising us. Due to which she
suffered after her retirement with disease and pain and we were all mute Spector.
Basically she dropped her health ball which was glass ball. It trashed into
pieces.

Cut… Cut… Cut…

Scene-2
I joined a Bally’s
fitness in US. My personal trainer in Gym was an experienced person. The person
was the one the most sought after trainer in the Gym. Being a tall and lean
guy, my goal was to gain weight. I gained 10 pounds in a matter of 3-6 months because
of the trainer’s direction and training the right muscle. I thanked the trainer
for achieving my health goal. Another interesting and amazing another face
about this trainer was she was an American women and a mother of two kids. She
took the glass ball that my mom dropped and trashed in her life. She made that
as a profession.

Due to few life
events I happened to stay in abroad for about 8 years in two different
countries, I noticed few things which had very stark contrast in the way of prioritizing
vs our Indian way of prioritizing health ball and other balls.

I want to throw the
following questions to women as well men.
·
How
many of Indian Women / Men with two kids spend time in their health goals?
·
How
much do they spend on this health quadrant 2.
·
Though
this is one of the glass balls, how much do we allocate on a daily basis.

I have a park in
front of my house. I use to see few men in the park on a daily basis who play Badminton
at 6am in the morning. At least few men are conscious of their health goals.

How much time our
wonder women spend for their health goals? You guys know the answer. If you
touch your heart, you guys know the answer.

If American women
can work on her health goals and be a trainer, what is happening to our Indian
women. How are we prioritizing this glass balls.

To address it, I am
sharing all the tips for weekly planning and daily planning that I learnt from
Covey.

Tips for weekly planning – it takes 20
min per week.

1.
Review
Mission and Roles

2.
Choose
Big Rocks

3.
Schedule
the week

Three steps to daily planning

1.
Check
today’s appointments

2.
Make
a realistic list

3.
Prioritize
(ABC, 123)

Tips for daily planning:-

·
When?
Before the day begins.

·
Where?
Someplace  quiet

·
How
long? 5-10 min

Covey suggests -  An effective planning system is

·
Integrated:-
the core four are all in one system – tasks, appointments, notes, and contacts.

·
Mobile:
it’s with you all the time.

·
Personalized.
It’s customized for your own needs.

Let me touch upon
other glass balls, how much time we allocate for Family, Friendship, Sprit and
career. We all know our Big rocks. How are we prioritizing our life around these
big rocks is the question that comes in front of us.

We have been
speaking about Stephen covey for the past two weeks. How many children do we
have these days? We have at least one or the max two, whereas our Stephen covey
had 9 children and 33 grandchildren. I hear “Adappavi Manushah” in Vadivel
voice. Maybe I could be the reason he came up a process and system for all of
us to follow.

In spite of his 9
children, in spite of being an author, successful entrepreneur and he was one
of the influential person in the century, he spent time in biking with his
beloved wife and loving daughter in the yesterday’s video.

Be it Stephen covey
or American Gym trainer; if there are able prioritize their glass balls (Pancha
Thanthiram), How about us. What are the best practices that we can learn from
Covey or my trainer?
Stephen Covey says,
all these habits are common Sense. But it is not commonly practised. Let us
bring common sense to common practice.

Let us all put
Quadrant2 activities in our daily life. Let us balance in our life. Let us
bring our Heros and Heroines in our daily life. Because we are ஆள போறான் தமிழன்
