EP-82 – பெண் பாவம் - Looks aren’t everything. Believe me, I’m a Model - Greatness Series - Zero to Hero 100 days Personal Transformation Journey

We are in
Episode 82.

இந்த YouTube channel லை வாழ வைக்கும் தெய்வங்களாகிய எல்லா
ஹீரோயின்களுக்கும், ஹீரோக்களுக்கும்
வணக்கம்.

As we have completed all the 7 Habits of Stephen Covey, I want take up “Greatness Series” to address other best behaviours, habits, simplifying tools, good books, Videos, TED Talks and resources.

Friend called from Delhi and suggested to take up a tamil book. Today I have taken up நீ நதி போல
ஓடிக்கொண்டிரு by Bharathi
Baskar. This is one of my favourites book. All words of wisdom from Bharathi
Baskar are shared profoundly in this book.

Bharathi Baskar takes up 20 articles related to daily challenges to women. I recommend this book to be read by men as well. That helps to understand the daily challenges faced by women in our houses.

Today’s topic is அழகு...
எது?

Six months ago, I went to my native place. I went to my native after 20 years. In those days, we never had any beauty parlour in my town twenty years ago. This time I have seen 4 to 5 parlours in every street and every corner of our town. That is why, this topic is closer to my heart.

In our movies, TV ads and media shows 3 types of women.

One is a family women talkes about health advices like Boost is the secret of energy.

Second type of ads objectivises women by exposing their body part in an obscene way (அங்கங்களின்
அங்காடி).
3rd type of ads shows women are with fair skin or pimple. Body shaming issues are included here.

From childhood days, I am a big fan of Actress SriDevi. What have we done to SriDevi. We told her, Her nose was not perfect. We collapsed her confidence and make her feel insecure. I would says, “we as a people of society are the big culprit”. She is no more with us.

There is a big economics, commercial behind all women. Survey says 85% of retail industry sales are driven by women.
  • Women account for 85% of all consumer purchases: ... are most likely to engage with retailers using social media or other digital tools. ...
In Jeevan Vidya workshop says, all the cosmetic industries (கூட்டு களவாணிகள்) worked together and declared Miss
Universe and Miss World from India so that they built the cosmetic industry.

We all need to think through this in a deep manner so that
we can take wiser decisions.
Our proverb says, “ஆள்
பாதி ஆடை பாதி”. Accordingly if we do beauty accessories to
feel good and confident which are well and good.

However, I see a lot of women are losing their confidence,
getting depression and insecure due to Body shaming issues which needs to be
addressed individually. Inside of focussing on our internal beauty, we are
spending more time on external beauties. We are spending more time on
beautifying ourselves; spend more money and spending more time in thoughts as
well. Added to that, we are losing our consciousness in this a lot which is
very valuable and priceless to any human being. Instead of showing our beauty,
we are slowly focussing to show ourselves in a glamorous way.

If we just spend our energies on external beauties / glamour
alone, we lost famous personalities like SriDevi. Even Marilyn Monroe,
Keeliyopatra did not live their life in peace and even their death were very
depressing as they fell behind the glamorous thing. Beauty is different and
Glamour is totally different.

What I am trying to say is அகத்தில்
அழகு முகத்தில் தெரியும் (The face is the index of the mind).

How to bring that
Inner Beauty?
We all of us are
SriDevi and Superstars on this earth..  Ovvaiyar says

To sculpt ourselves as SriDevi and Superstars, let us focus
on the basis of beauty.

  •          Let us not run behind Chemicals
  •          Go for nature products as suggested by Actress
    Amla and Nadhiya
  •          Because too much of intoxication of chemicals,
chemicals everywhere could be the reason for raising Breast cancer issues in
    women.

We need to delve deeper on these issues to take wise
decisions.

To get wider understanding of this issue, I did some more
research on two popular forums like TED and YouTube.

I saw Vidya Balan’s Body shaming videos. "Kabhi tu moti
kehta hai, kabhi tu choti kehta hai.... " Vidya says in a video, with a
certain confidence and weight in her voice. She highlights the discriminatory
comments and jokes made at people regarding their looks.”.  "Don't make jokes on someone's size,
colour. Everyone is different...that's why everyone is special," Vidya
said in the video, which is part of an initiative for her radio show Dhun Badal
Ke Toh Dekho.

Conclusion:-
We should respect and identify people based on their skills
and talents not based on their looks. That is the real secret for us as Heroes
and Heroines.

Another video is a TED talks by a Cameron Russell.
Looks aren’t everything. Believe me, I’m a Model by Cameron
Russell  https://www.ted.com/talks/cameron_russell_looks_aren_t_everything_believe_me_i_m_a_model?language=en

Who is
Cameron Russell?

Cameron Russell has spent the last decade modeling.
Victoria's Secret favorite, she has appeared in multiple
international editions of Vogue as well as in ads for brands like Ralph Lauren
and Benetton. But she feels at her core that image isn't everything. Read an
update on her work from the TED Blog.
This TED talks are having more than 31 Million views. Please
watch it at your leisure to take conscious decisions regarding beauty.

What she is trying to say is, “Movies show Heroes / Heroines
with unattainable body which can be never be attained by anybody in real life.
It is not a sustainable beauty as well. Cameron says, Beauty is only less than
10% of her body and remaining 90% are done through lighting, photoshop etc”.
They show unattainable body in movies. We need to think through this deeply to
take wise decision.

Bharathi Baskar ends this profound article in a beautiful way
that, “Our mom with wrinkled skin and abundance of love, compassion and warmth
on her face and thoughts are much more beautiful than Aishwarya Rai’s and Tamannaah’s
beauties.

Let us all focus on true beauty of ourselves.
